Achievements
• Regional Centre Vatakara is one among three Regional Centers in South India (out of 10 Regional Centre in South India) to achieve the uniqueness of having its own premises/land.
• It is one of the prominent Regional Centres in South India to have consistent high growth rate in student admissions at the rate of 30% increase in every year.
• The Regional Centre Vatakara has played a major role in realizing the dreams of 5000 IGNOU learners to obtain their Degree, Diploma and P.G Degree from IGNOU.
• The Regional Centre took special initiative to help and promote education among the Tribal Youth in the Wayanad District. An IGNOU Centre for facilitating this has already been established at Mananthavady (Wayanad District).
• The IGNOU Regional Centre has, a special study centre established in the Central prison at Kannur to provide IGNOU programmes, as a part of Social inclusion, to around 100 Jail Inmates every year.
• The Regional Centre has played a crucial role in establishing a Study Centre at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala for the benefits of the serving Naval Officers and their family members.
• The Union Territory of Mahe is now attached under the Regional Centre Vatakara and an IGNOU Study Centre is established at the Govt. College Mahe.
• The Regional Centre Vatakara has adopted Azhiyur Village Panchayath as a part of providing inclusive growth of sustainable educational development as per the advice from
Government of India implemented by IGNOU. We would be working in close coordination with the Local self Government in providing education opportunity to a maximum number of people.
