Indian classical dances bring out the quintessential cultural ethos of diverse regions of India.
This programme offers practical training in the basics of classical dance forms and provides a holistic and integrated approach to understanding Indian performing arts through theory courses with seventynty to thirty percent weightage for practical and theory respectively.
This is an innovative programme from IGNOU, which combines the strength of both IGNOU and its Programme Study centres which are reputed Kuchipudi dance schools located across the length and breadth of India and abroad.
It combines the flexibility of distance and continuing education with conventional learning system and provides for face-to-face interaction through its program study centres, for both theory and practicals.
Qualifications for academic counsellors:
Graduates with minimum fifty percent aggregate in History or Philosophy are eligible to conduct counseling for CPVA- 01 and CPVA- 02
Graduates with minimum fifty percent aggregate in Dance are eligible to conduct counseling for CPA-01 and the three practical courses. or
Any graduate with full time Diploma in Dance from any recognized institute with 50% aggregate are eligible to conduct counseling for CPA-01 and three practical courses. or
Dancer or guru of at least five years of teaching experience in the respective classical dance form is eligible to conduct only three practical courses.
Counseling sessions:
Practical courses: Nritta, Nritya – each with minimum 40hrs of counseling to be provided.
Music and talas- each with minimum 20hrs of counseling to be provided.
Evaluation:
All practical exams will be evaluated by an external and internal examiner.
General guidelines
Minimum three assignments will be conducted for theory papers for all the courses.
Term end final practical examination should be evaluated by an external examiner
